Day 4

Today was a painfully long travel day.  Kayla, Mike and I drove from Auckland to the Paihia in the Bay of Islands.  There a few noteworthy parts of the day.  I had a phenomenal ginger beer with dinner (that included a 6 dollar burger and fries and that was in kiwi dollars).  The views driving in were pretty spectacular because you have just seen these endless miles of grass and forest (and giant prehistoric ferns) and then the bay just opens up in front of you with a remarkably tropical turquoise (despite not feeling the least bit tropical later).  This is also the first night that I'm in a hostel (first of many) on my trip.  The unfortunate aspect of this hostel is that the internet is slow, paid for, and metered (pay by the mb).

I don't have many pictures from today because it was less than the perfect picture taking environment but stay tuned because there are more to come.
